Millions to be Spent on Border Security

Canada's public safety minister and MP Chris Bittle made the announcement today in Niagara Falls, hiring more border agents

Over $617-million to be spent by the federal government to hire 1,000 new border agents.

Canada's public safety minister was joined today by St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle at the border crossing in Niagara Falls today.

They say the upcoming budget next month will have the money to deal with cross-border traffic in drugs, illegal guns and stolen cars.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced plans to hire 1,000 more R-C-M-P personnel, including 150 staffers who will focus on money laundering, organized crime and online fraud.
