The Meridian Centre is beefing up security with portable metal detectors.
They will be used for bigger events at the St. Catharines venue, including tonight's Rock the Rink skating show.
Staff members used to have metal detector wands, but the new system should help speed things up.
The detectors will not be used for Niagara IceDogs games, because the OHL has not made them mandatory.
