Police believe this was a random, isolated act of violence
A man has been seriously hurt after a stabbing in St. Catharines that police believe was a random, isolated act of violence.
Officers were called just before 5 this morning to the Queenston and Niagara Street area, to find a man in his 30s with serious injuries. He was taken to an out of region hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
Police learned he was sleeping outside after leaving a nearby licensed establishment when he was hit in the head and stabbed multiple times by an unknown man. That suspect then fled with the victim's cellphone.
Police say the suspect is white, about 5'8, in his 30s, with a shorter beard.
They're also asking for witnesses to call them, or anyone who might have found a discarded cellphone, knife, or clothing in the area of the crime.
The public is also urged to remain aware of surroundings and report any suspicious people or activity.
