Police posed as someone under 16
A 68-year old Niagara Falls man is behind bars after police posed as a child under 16 in an effort to smash child luring over the internet.
It was in June that various child abuse and exploitation units of the NRP began investigating a certain case, and posing as a child, officers allege the suspect communicated for a sexual purpose with someone under 16 years old.
Police arrested Paul DeRose yesterday, laying two charges:
- Luring a Child via Telecommunication to Facilitate Sexual Interference
- Luring a Child via Telecommunication to Facilitate Sexual Assault
He has a bail hearing today in St. Catharines.
