Port Colborne to be home of Honda’s new lithium-ion battery separator plant
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to be joined by Premier Doug Ford and their cabinets in Port Colborne at 11:30 this morning to make a joint announcement relating to the creation of a new battery separator plant in the region.
It's expected that the announcement will be that Port Colborne will be the new home of Honda Canada’s new lithium-ion battery separator plant.
Few details have been released but sources have confirmed that the project will be a joint endeavor between Honda and Japanese chemical multinational Asahi Kasei. This backs up the announcement made last month that Honda’s partner will be investing nearly $1.6 billion dollars for the plant.
The plant is scheduled to be established by October.
