Niagara families have a new place for children to learn to read, grow and play with others.

The region, alongside Port Cares and the Town of Lincoln, officially opened the Lincoln EarlyON Child and Family Centre at the Lincoln Community Hub in Beamsville yesterday, or the old high school.

It was made possible with provincial and federal help, opening on Family Literacy Day, highlighting the importance of reading, learning and play in the early years.

Yesterday also began Family Literacy Week in Niagara, as EarlyON centres in the region hosting literacy-focused activities for families.

Regional Chair Bob Gale says the region plays a critical role in ensuring families have access to high quality early years programming.
