Region's Marketing Manager says one from Finland and China making their move in 2026
There are more reports the Niagara region is growing, as it eyes the arrival of new international companies.
The region's Marketing Manager Katie Desharnais told the economic and development committee for one, the region's online digital marketing site was able to catch some investors attention. "CBB is an international company from Finland, and Vichnet is a company from China, they're both relocating in 2026, I believe. CBB will set up its Canadian subsidiary here, and Vichnet has invested $5-million."
She also noted the impact the international battery component plant set up in Port Colborne is having.
That announcement even drew the prime minister. "This announcement gained significant international media coverage, in elevating Niagara's local profile. And, I would say it had about 10 international articles, mostly out of Japan, based on this event."
She says it really comes down to partnerships with business groups that leads to this success.
She also focused on work with Metrolinx, that has resulted in a 77% increase of GO train traffic to Niagara over the last two years, 44% to Niagara Falls.
