Increasing Fatal Collisions Concerns NRP

Chief Bill Fordy expressed his concern to the police services board meeting

There is plenty of concern from Niagara Regional police at the rising number of fatal traffic collisions in the region.

In his regular report to the police services board, in which he was brief, Chief Bill Fordy pointed out there has been an unprecedented 33 fatal collisions so far this year.  "Our traffic reconstruction unit continues to work diligently investigating these life changing tragedies.  We continue to promote and enforce road safety, including speed reduction measures, seatbelt checks, and RIDE checks."

He applauded officers for what they face daily.  "On August 15th, I had an opportunity to do a ride along in one district, getting a first hand look at what our front line officers do each and every day, to try and keep our communities safe.  I was reminded of what an incredible job they do in often difficult circumstances."
