Former Mississauga mayor would have turned 102 today
Former Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion is being remembered as a trailblazing force of nature.
Thousands gathered at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre today for her funeral service.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took the podium, saying she was someone who truly cared about the members of her community.
"She will always be remembered as someone who worked hard, and delivered every day for people."
Other speakers included Premier Doug Ford and former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien.
McCallion served in the city's top job for over three decades.
She died of cancer last month at the age of 101, and would have turned 102 today.
