Health Canada Warns of Formula Shortage For Babies With Food Allergies

Agency says some provinces are experiencing a shortage of hydrolyzed and amino acid-based formulas.

Health Canada is warning parents of a shortage of infant formula for babies with food allergies.

In a statement, the agency says the country is facing a shortage due to the closure of a large manufacturing plant in the U.S.

As a result, some provinces are running low on hydrolyzed and amino acid-based formulas.

Health Canada says parents should speak to their doctors about their baby's needs and find alternative products.

It also advises against using substitutes such as homemade formula, cow's milk or goat's milk.
