Canada's first Omicron-targeting booster shot approved for people aged 18 and older.
Health Canada has approved Moderna's new COVID-19 booster vaccine for people aged 18 and older.
The new shot targets both the omicron strain and the original strain of the COVID-19 virus.
The shot was approved for use in the UK two weeks ago, and the US greenlit both Moderna and Pfizer's Omicron-fighting shots earlier this week.
Health Canada says studies show that the new vaccine provides a better immune response to the Omicron variant than the original Moderna mRNA shot.
The agency recommends getting the booster at least four months after your previous shot.
