It's being done with donation and help from Centennial Homes
Four new townhomes are to be built this year in Thorold, between Habitat for Humanity and Centennial Homes.
Mark Carl is the CEO for Habitat for Humanity Niagara, and said during a groundbreaking ceremony they never dreamed of a generous gift this size.
Centennial Homes was awarded Company of the Year in 2023, by Niagara Home Builders' Association.
Habitat for Humanity Niagara does not give homes away for free, as qualifying families must complete 500 volunteer hours and pay an affordable mortgage.
Those mortgage payments go into a "fund for humanity", allowing the organization to build more homes.
