Commisso's begins its food drive today
Commisso's grocery stores working to ensure food that's reached its best before date, or close to expiry, might still get used.
President Rocco Commisso tells us they've been doing this for many years, to avoid throwing it out. "There's this food act that was brought into place a number of years ago by the food banks, if it's a chilled product, as long as it's kept in the fridge, if it's a canned product, why waste it?"
The company's food drive with Project Share starts today.
"There's a greater need now than there has been in the past... a lot to do with inflation, and gas prices, and, you know, work situations," he says.
