The federal and provincial governments have pledged funds in support of horticulture research projects.
The investment, which is over $330,000, will be given to the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre.
The money will be used to purchase specialized equipment for studies focusing on harvesting and storage, COVID-19 protocols, inventory tracking and improvements to biosecurity.
The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food , says it's important to support new technology solutions, in order to keep the province's agriculture and agri-food sector on the forefront.
"Our farmers and food businesses are leading our country on the road to recovery, and our Government will continue investing in the support they need to grow and succeed."
The VRIC will also study urban planting initiatives in order to identify which varieties of trees are best suited for planting in urban environments.
