Statistics Canada says Canadians bought 14 percent less gas last year than in 2019.
Statistics Canada says gas prices reached their lowest point in two decades last year.
The agency reports about 38.6 billion litres of gas was bought in 2020, which is 14 percent lower than in 2019.
While every province in the country saw a drop in prices, the biggest decrease was in Ontario, where drivers bought 18 percent less gas than the year before.
Earlier this year, a study published in the journal Natural Climate Change suggested the amount of greenhouse gas emissions dropped by about seven percent globally due to public health measures designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
