One of the organizers of the "Freedom Convoy" in Ottawa is about to be released from jail.
Tyson Billings has pleaded guilty to a charge of counselling to commit mischief for his role in the protests against COVID-19 restrictions and the federal government.
Billings was a key figure in the three-week demonstration, which took place in Ottawa this past February.
He was co-accused with Pat King, another prominent protest organizer.
Crown counsel Moiz Karimjee says video footage shows Billings and King encouraging people to access Ottawa's downtown area by thwarting police checkpoints. .
King's trial is expected to go ahead as planned.
