Lots of people will go home with free groceries if they stop by Welland’s Market Square this afternoon.
Volunteers with the city and the Open Arms Mission will hand out free groceries from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. while supplies last.
All the volunteers will be wearing personal protective equipment and they will practice physical distancing.
Those who wish to pick up groceries should wear a face covering as well.
This is all thanks to an anonymous donor.
Mayor Frank Campion says this type of philanthropy is critical during these tough times.
