Fort Erie Town Council has decided to split up the repair project, for the CN 6218 Steam Engine.
The Town will be spending about $175,000 to fix the caboose.
But it will hold off on any further upgrades, until more money comes in from the provincial and federal governments.
The Town will also be implementing a new ongoing painting program. The steam engine will be painted every four years, which will cost about $11,250 per year.
An additional $667 will be spent every three years, to paint the caboose.
Painting CN 6218 will help protect it from the elements, until the Town uses provincial and federal funding to erect a cover.
That will cost about $390,000, including an additional $16,000 in additional costs (ex: storm system upgrades, topgraphical land survey, etc.)
