Taxpayers can expect property tax increase of about $29 per year.
The Town of Fort Erie has passed its 2022 budget.
For the Town portion of the residential property tax, there will be an increase of 2.15 percent.
For a house valued at $200,300, this comes to an additional $29 per year.
Officials say the $30.5 million operating budget includes $135,000 for the Rural Ditching program, $66,000 for the Living Wage initiative, $250,000 for Affordable Housing funding, and $150,000 for climate change studies.
Meanwhile, the Capital Budget includes $3 million for reconstruction of the Waverly Beach Trail, $2.2 million for the 2022 Road Resurfacing Program, and $2.9 million for Bridgeburg District Streetscape improvements.
