Program looks to help young people get jobs in technology
Premier Doug Ford was in Niagara this morning to announce an investment to help young people find work.
The province is investing $2.9 million in the Youth Skills Studio in Lincoln.
Ford says the money will be used to help young people prepare for work in the technology field, with a focus on IT, web development, digital marketing, cloud computing and digital systems administration.
250 people under the age of 30 will get to take part in a four month paid training program, with about 75 local businesses participating.
"This investment will give youth in the Niagara region the skills they need to start or advance their careers in growing industries," said Premier Doug Ford. "Right across the province, we’re connecting young people to the jobs of the future and businesses to the skilled workforce they need to grow and expand."
In-person training will occur in Beamsville, and the program is available for people in high school up to age 29.
The project is funded through the government's Skills Development Fund.
