Premier Doug Ford will meet with federal cabinet ministers tomorrow to discuss the Trudeau government's health funding offer
Premier Doug Ford and Health Minister Sylvia Jones will meet with two federal cabinet ministers tomorrow to continue talks about health care funding.
The pair will meet with federal Health Minister Jean-Yves DuClos and Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc.
Earlier today, Jones told reporters that the province needs to ensure the programs are not short-term.
Meanwhile, Ford says he's "confident" a deal will be reached, but Ontarians want to ensure the plan is long-term.
Yesterday, the federal government offered $46.2 billion more in health care spending, including an immediate $2 billion for pediatric hospitals and emergency rooms.
It also includes $1.7 billion to boost salaries for personal support workers.
Ford says this is a "down payment" on what provinces need for health care, while Trudeau referred to it as a "major federal investment."
