21 year old swimmer sets Canadian record
Maggie Mac Neil has won our first gold medal of these games, capturing the women's 100-metre butterfly in a Canadian record of 55.59 seconds this morning in Tokyo.
Yesterday the London, Ontario native was part of the women's 4x100 metre freestyle relay team that won the silver.
Canadian divers Jennifer Abel and Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu landed on the podium yesterday as well after capturing silver in the women's synchronized three metre springboard competition.
Also this morning, reigning world champ Jessica Klimkait of Whitby won bronze in Judo in the women's under-57 kilogram category.
