Nearly one year after the discovery of unmarked graves at former residential school in Kamloops, Canada's Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister says there are likely more unmarked graves.

Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Marc Miller says there may be many more residential school gravesites across the country.

Nearly one year ago, ground-penetrating radar found what are believed to be the remains of 215 children in unmarked graves at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C.

Miller says site searches so far are just "the tip of the iceberg."

During a press conference this afternoon, Miller, Indigenous Services Minister Patty HY-DOO and Justice Minister David Lametti promised more financial support to communities affected by the school system.

Throughout Canada, there are 140 former residential school sites.
