Conservatives say Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino has lost credibility over Emergencies Act comments.
The federal Conservative party is pushing for Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino to resign.
Party officials say Mendicino has lost credibility after telling the House of Commons that police asked the government to invoke the Emergencies Act in response to "Freedom Convoy" demonstrations that took place in Ottawa in February.
Since then, Ottawa police and the RCMP have said they didn't ask for the act to be used.
Mendicino says the government consulted with police about what powers were needed to end blockades, and invoking the Emergencies Act was the only way to give police the necessary powers.
