Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland will present the federal budget in the House of Commons at 4:00 p.m. today.
OTTAWA - It's budget day on Parliament Hill.
Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is expected to deliver the Trudeau Government's federal budget in the House of Commons at 4:00 p.m. today.
Keeping up with tradition, Freeland bought a new pair of shoes yesterday that she will be wearing for the budget presentation. She decided to go with a pair of black pumps that she bought from Canadian retailer Simons.
There are reports the budget will address affordability, crack down on predatory lending and provide a temporary boost to the GST rebate due to rising grocery prices. It's also expected to include new tax credits for the green economy and a plan to go after hidden surcharges tacked on to the prices of goods and services.
In a post on Twitter, Freeland says the budget will include stronger health care supports and investments that will support careers in a clean economy.
That’s because tomorrow we’re unveiling the next steps of our plan to deliver meaningful support for Canadians; stronger public health care; and significant investments that will support great careers in a clean economy.
