97 percent vote in favour of strike action
Another Ontario teacher's union has voted in favour of a strike mandate.
The Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association (OECTA) voted 97 percent in favour of authorizing strike action.
"Our overwhelming strike mandate sends a clear message to the Ford Conservative government and the representatives of Catholic school boards that Catholic teachers want to see meaningful progress and results at the bargaining table that address the lack of resources, supports, and time teachers need to best serve their students," says OECTA President René Jansen in de wal.
He adds this doesn't necessarily mean teachers will hit the picket lines, but it does send a strong message to the Minister of Education and Catholic school board representatives.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says it's "disappointing" to see the OECTA has voted this way.

Yesterday, the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario also voted in favour of a strike mandate.
