The group telling the CBC, the move ends a dangerous practice that put visitors and staff at risk.
It also follows a CBC investigation into an elephant attack at African Lion Safari in 2019 that left a handler seriously injured.
The news agency says the elephant, Maggie, who had been used for rides at the Flamborough theme park for years, turned on the handler shortly after a rider had dismounted as the animal started to become aggressive.
