The City of Niagara Falls is warning local homeowners, about a scam in the area.
Officials say people have been going door-to-door selling water filtration equipment, or they may offer to inspect your water lines.
They'll also ask for the personal information on your utility accounts, while claiming to be working in conjunction with the City of the province.
But the City has absolutely no affiliation with these people, and the province banned door-to-door water filter sales back in 2018.
If a real City employee has to enter your home, they will show proper identification and they will be driving a clearly marked City of Niagara Falls vehicle.
Please keep in mind the City is currently working alongside Neptune Technology Group on a water meter replacement program.
Officials with Neptune will be contacting local homeowners about their free water meter replacement.
