Doctors Demand Province Address Long Term Care Crisis

A group of over 200 doctors, researchers, and advocates are weighing in.

The group is calling the situation in Ontario's long-term care homes an urgent humanitarian crisis.

They say Ontario must take urgent action to address the rising number of deaths due to COVID-19 in long-term care.

Mean time, public health officials say 99 more people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the province's Simcoe-Muskoka region likely have a variant of the virus first identified in the U-K.

Officials say most of the cases are linked to a deadly outbreak at a long-term care home in Barrie, , that has killed 46 people and infected more than 200.
