He advanced to Wednesday’s final with a Canadian record time of 19.73 in his semifinal heat.
He set another new record with a time of 19.62.
It’s the Markham native's second medal in Tokyo, he took home bronze earlier this week in the 100 metre dash.
Canada now has 15 medals at the Tokyo Olympics.
