The Electrical Safety Authority warns of Julian Solarte, and his Mr. Fix Enterprise
A warning from Ontario's Electrical Safety Authority that if you hire a contractor to do work on the house or business, make sure that contractor is licenced.
Emily Larose is with the ESA, and says Julian Solarte, who runs Mr. Fix Enterprise, has been convicted three times for doing unlicenced work in the province.
She says he's done work in Niagara Falls and Thorold. "Work at a restaurant, lighting was installed without being properly mounted to the ceiling, which, from an electrical perspective, poses serious safety risks. He also did work in peoples' homes... we discovered switches that were wired incorrectly, which again creates hazards."
She says he was sentenced to 15 days in jail, but doesn't know if he has served that.
She has some warning signs after hiring someone. "That they don't have an ESA licence number, on their invoice, or on their truck. If the contractor is asking the homeowner doesn't take out a permit, or asking the homeowner take out a permit instead of the contractor.... these are all red flags."
The ESL says he was convicted in 2019 and 2022, yet continued to do unlicenced work in various Ontario communities.
