The bill was originally tabled in 2017 by Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff.
This is his first Private Member's Bill to become law.
Stakeholders who supported the bill include the Canadian Cancer Society, the Ontario Medical Association and the Canadian Society of Palliative Care.
The bill requires a provincial framework to be created to improve access to palliative care services in places like hospitals, hospices, long term care homes and home care.
It aims to improve access to such care while also supporting palliative care workers and providing palliative care training for health care providers and caregivers.
