People living beside Titan Sportsplex in Niagara Falls say it's too noisy beyond midnight when other parks and sites shut down at 11pm
Niagara Falls city staff have until next council meeting to come up with solutions to a noise complaint concerning Titan Sportsplex on Sinnicks Avenue.
Terri-Lynn Pirie lives right beside the dome, and says there's persistent yelling and screaming coming from within it past 11pm almost every night.
She adds the dome is thinly covered. "So it appears to be louder, which is why people from 2, 3 or 4 streets away can actually hear it. These people are excited, I get it, they're yelling, cheering for each other, but at 1 in the morning, I'm exhausted."
She says she's reached out to the owner of the complex but no response.
The city's GM of Planning Kira Dolch says they'll look into the zoning of the property. "We'll once in a while see some exemptions on hours of operations in a zoning by-law, if there were residents closer than an appropriate set back from that, but in this case, I don't believe there is one, but I will check that."
Councillor Lori Lococo noted a report showing people playing there beyond hours of operation.
Terri-Lynn Pirie also says a neighbour of hers, who is a city employee, has asked the owner many times to do something, but nothing has happened.
