The City of Welland is issuing a reminder to residents that the Main Street Bus Terminal remains available as a warming centre.
Warming centers are typically activated whenever Environment Canada issues a cold weather alert of minus 15 degrees Celsius or lower.
The City has deemed the Welland Transit Terminal as a warming station when it's open, whether or not temperatures reach that point.
Anyone who uses the warming centre is encouraged to follow COVID-19 safety measures, including social distancing, frequent hand washing, and wearing a mask.
Residents concerned about an individual who they have encountered that is homeless and without shelter is invited to call 211 to speak with the Niagara Street Outreach Team.
The Welland Transit Terminal is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.
