City of Welland Clean Up Efforts Continue

City officials say crews have cleared about 95 percent of roads on their first pass.

The City of Welland says public works staff are still clearing streets over 24 hours later.

Officials say about 95 percent of the about 595 km of paved roads were cleared on their first pass.

"I know some residents are frustrated that their road wasn’t plowed as quickly as they’d like, but our crews have been working around the clock," said Steve Zorbas, CAO. "When this much snow falls in such a short period, it can delay things, but we are steadily making our way through the city."

Residents are encouraged to pile the snow on the right side to reduce the amount of snow pushed back into the driveway when clearing snow from a driveway.

The City also says sidewalk clearing remains a slow process due to volume.
