City CAO and long-term employee Shelley Chemnitz has announced that is about to retire.
Her retirement will commence in July 2021, at the end of her current term.
She has served the City for nearly 30 years, acting as City Treasurer and Commissioner of Corporate Services before taking up her current role.
Mayor Walter Sendzik says that Chemnitz has been an outstanding leader in the community, particularly during the pandemic-related challenges of the last nine months.
"She rose to the unprecedented challenges facing St. Catharines with a decisive determination to keep our staff and community safe and a depth of empathy and understanding that proved to be a steady hand of leadership in uncharted waters."
Chemnitz was born and raised in St. Catharines, and attended Brock University.
