City launches new online tool for residents who wish to report suspected illegal vacation rental units
The City of Niagara Falls is fighting back against illegal vacation rental units.
Officials say there are over 1,000 illegal units in the city, which are being listed on platforms like AirBnB and Kijiji.
Starting today, residents can head online to report such units to by-law enforcement.
Vacation rental units must be licensed, have no more than three bedrooms, and can only be in certain parts of the city.
As well, a new Vacation Rental Unit Handbook has been developed.
