Robert Cooper has been given the Key to the City of St. Catharines. He has been the artistic director for Chorus Niagara for 30 years now.
Mayor Walter Sendzik says he wanted to recognize Cooper's contributions to the local arts community.
Cooper has worked with the Ontario Male Chorus, the National Youth Choir of Canada and the Ontario Youth Choir in the past.
Sendzik says Cooper's talents could take him anywhere, but he continues to support local arts and music in the Garden City.
Only a handful of people have received the Key to the City including Norm Foster, Edward Burtynsky, Jack Lightstone, Tom Rankin, Fergie Jenkins, Mary Ann Edwards and Rosemary Hale.
