Graduate of Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School part of eight crew
We've done it again.
Canada's women have captured gold on the final day of rowing at the Tokyo Olympics.
Our women's eight crew of Susanne Grainger, Lisa Roman and Christine Roper, along with coxswain Kristen Kit, Sydney Payne, Madison Mailey, Kasia Gruchalla-Wesierski, Avalon Wasteneys and Andrea Proske finished ahead of New Zealand and China to take the top spot.
This is our third gold medal of the games.
The win comes a day after Canadian rowers Caileigh Filmer and Hillary Janssens won bronze in the women's pair event.
Meantime, St. Catharines Collegiate graduate Mohammed Ahmed came in 6th today in the 10,000 metre .
Ahmed runs in the 5,000 metre next week.
