The 19 year old is onto the next round of the US Open and so is Montreal's Felix Auger-Alliasime

Leylah Fernandez from Laval, Quebec held on through some difficult stretches to post a win yesterday over Elinia Svitolina of the Ukraine,

The teen also beat star player Naomi Osaka of Japan in the third round and Germany's Angelique Kerber in the fourth.

Leylah is currently ranked number 73 in the world.

Meantime, Montreal's Felix Auger-Aliassime has reached the seminfinals at the Open after his opponent Carlos Alcaraz of Spain retired in the second set.
