Canada, Sweden Ask IOC to Reschedule Women's Gold Medal Soccer Game Due to Expected Heat

Officials from both the Canadian and Swedish women's soccer teams have requested their gold medal game be held in the late afternoon to avoid sizzling heat expected Friday in Tokyo.

Canadian and Swedish women's soccer team officials are asking Olympic organizers to push back the scheduled kickoff time for the gold-medal game to late afternoon.

Both sides want to avoid the extreme heat expected Friday at Tokyo's Olympic Stadium.

The women's final is set to begin at 11 a-m Tokyo time Friday, (or 10 p.m. Eastern Time Thursday)

Sunny skies and a high of 34 degrees is expected but with humidity it will feel like it's in the low 40s.
