A fallen NRP officer will be remembered in Niagara Falls. A bridge dedication ceremony will be taking place at the NRPS Headquarters on Valley Way this Friday, in memory of Constable Luciano DeSimone.
He was 24-years-old when he passed away while on-duty back in May 1974.
DeSimone was in Fort Erie, when he was called out to a major disturbance in downtown Niagara Falls.
He was heading northbound on the QEW, going over the Welland River bridge when he hit a flatbed transport truck.
The truck driver had stopped to help a fellow motorist who had also been in a collision, but the truck was not visible to approaching traffic.
This Friday's bridge dedication ceremony will be open to the public. Everything will get started at 10:00 a.m.
