UPDATE: AEFO Cancels Province Wide Strike

UPDATE: The AEFO has decided to cancel it's province wide walkout, due to heavy snow.

The Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens says it might not be safe for it's members on the picket lines in some areas tomorrow.

It adds the decision had nothing to do with bowing down to the demands of the government and school boards.

The union will continue negotiations with the government and Employer Bargaining Agency this Friday.

The AEFO has announced a one-day province wide strike.

The Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens represents French language teachers in Niagara and across the rest of the province.

They're planning to walk off the job this Thursday.

It's the only strike scheduled for this week in Niagara.

But the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario says it will start new strike action on March 9th, if a deal is not reached before March 6th.

Representatives from the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association met with the province at the bargaining table yesterday.

The union says it was not productive, and it's considering options for further strike action

Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the OECTA has increased what their asking for, but did not go into further detail.
