Some good news for Niagara Health.
Thanks to an investment from the province, the long-term care home in Welland will soon have more beds available.
Niagara Health is in the midst of planning for the redevelopment of a new long-term care facility on the Welland Site.
Currently, the Welland site has 115 beds - 75 in the Extended Care Unit, and 40 in an adjacent interim unit.
The funds will not only allow for the 40 interim spaces to stay permanently, but there will also be an expansion of 13 additional beds.
This investment is part of a commitment made by the province yesterday to allocate 11,707 new and upgraded long-term care spaces through 80 projects in Ontario.
