They got the ball rolling on an action plan, for the old GM Plant site in St. Catharines.
The City has sent a letter to the Minister of the Environment, calling for remedial action and a meeting with the Minister.
It has also sent letters to the NPCA, Niagara Region Public Health and local MPPs.
The City is looking for outside legal advice, when it comes to cleaning up the privately-owned property on Ontario Street.
It's going to hire a security company on a month-to-month basis, to keep trespassers out.
Staff have also been fixing up the fence around the site.
Council approved the $125,000 action plan Monday night.
