Councillor has heard lots of concern
A 3-way stop sign could be going in at the Park Lane and Richmond Street intersection in Thorold over safety concerns.
Councillor Ken Sentence's idea notes this is in a school safety zone, and there's limited traffic control in multiple directions.
He lives near the area, and says he's heard from many people. "That when they come over the overpass towards the downtown, cars are trying to rush to get through, and when they're turning right, they're speeding through there. We have a crossing guard there, but that's only at certain times of the day."
City staff will look into this and report back to council August 12th.
When asked by Councillor Nella Dekker about using other measures such as flashing lights, he stuck with stop signs. "I've seen people go through those flashing lights, and not always slow down. I think they need to be stopped there, and then that is the safest thing. Now we have the camera up on Collier (Road)."
At the request of Councillor Henry D'Angela, city staff will do an overall review of other stop signs under request.
