12 People Charged During RIDE Check

NRP say impaired driving is the leading criminal cause of death in Canada

The latest RIDE check numbers reported by Niagara regional police are in.

The force says it checked a number of vehicles last Monday to Sunday, and charged 12 people with impaired driving by alcohol or drugs, or for refusing to provide a breath sample.

The NRP adds the individuals charged received a 90 day licence suspension, and are not allowed to drive.  Police add the public is encouraged to report anyone who is driving while under suspension.

The people charged range in age from a 19-year old from Welland, to a 59-year old from Niagara Falls, as well as a driver from Buffalo.

Police also say impaired driving is the leading criminal cause of death in Canada.
