This one-woman play performed by Leslie McCurdy follows the life of Harriet Tubman in the 1850's through her escape from captivity and her mission to rescue enslaved family and friends as a conductor on the Underground Railroad. It is a compelling and inspiring play, something to be experienced by everyone and walk away changed forever!
Harriet Tubman has been honoured by both Canada and the United States. In Canada we have the Salem Chapel, on Geneva St. which is a Historic site to her memory as well as the "Harriet Tubman Public School" on Henry Street that opened in 2015. In the United States Harriet Tubman was named 71st of the Top 100 Most Influential Persons, she was named as the new face on the US $20 bill and on June 1, 2024 a larger-than-life monument of Harriet Tubman was unveiled in Beaufort, South Carolina.
This event is a joint fundraiser for West Niagara Secondary School and Jordan Station United Church.
