Winter Arrives at 10:59 AM

Today marks the winter solstice

The Weather Network explaining this is the time "the Earth transitions between the aphelion, where Earth is farthest from the sun, and the perihelion, where it is nearest."

The Network adding, according to Celtic mythology " the solstice marked a great battle each year pitting the Oak King, who represented the light, against the Holly King, who represented the dark."

Winter officially begins at 10:59 this morning and that is when the Earth is tilted farthest away from the Sun, limiting our daylight hours down to 9 hours and 5 minutes, making it the calendar day with the least daylight.

The good news starting tomorrow we start to get more daylight per day.
