Scattered power outages still reported this morning in some areas of Niagara
It was a tough night for power crews across Niagara with high winds over 100 km/h causing widespread outages.
For the most part this morning, NPEI, Canadian Niagara Power and Alectra, the main electric companies, are reporting a few small outages.
CNP which serves Fort Erie and Port Colborne, posting on its website, "Our crews continue to work at making repairs to downed hydro lines & broken poles. Wind gusts of 100 km/h have been reported. Thank you again for your patience and understanding."
At one point the MTO was forced to close the St. Catharines Skyway for a few hours because of the winds.
The high winds also caused flooding along the Lake Erie shorelines with waves in some areas breaching barriers and spilling out onto streets.
Municipal crews will be out assessing the damage from the storm.
Fortunately all weather alerts have ended and Environment Canada is forecasting sunny skies today with winds gusting up to 60 km/h this afternoon and a high of 7.
